PROTECCIÓN PASIVA CONTRA INCENDIOS
PINTURA IGNIFUGA
Recubrimiento que no induce la producción de llamas ni humos tóxicos, pero sin embargo las estructuras recubiertas pueden sufrir aumentos considerables de la temperatura. Así pues, una pintura ignífuga disminuye la reacción al fuego disminuyendo su combustibilidad y los posibles efectos en cuanto a gases y humos de combustión que se producirían en los materiales estructurales en caso de incendio, pero en ningún caso protege al material estructural del efecto del calor y aumento de la temperatura como sí lo hace la intumescente.

PINTURA INTUMESCENTE
Las pinturas intumescentes tienen la capacidad de hincharse al calentarse, creando una capa aislante alrededor de los elementos que recubren. De este modo, forman una barrera aislante que retrasa la propagación de las llamas y la combustión.
Se aplica en elementos estructurales (columnas, vigas y techumbre construidos o fabricados con diversos materiales constructivos como madera,acero, hormigón o polímeros),para protegerlos en caso de incendio, previniendo y minimizando las consecuencias y los daños del fuego en inmuebles y bienes materiales. Asimismo, amplía el tiempo disponible para que los equipos de emergencias actúen en el rescate de personas y el control de los incendios.
